Including GST
Gill Automotive is a trading name of Gill AutoGlass Limited. These terms explain the agreed scope and reasonable limitations of our mobile pre-purchase inspection service. They form part of the booking agreement between Gill AutoGlass Limited and the customer who books the inspection.
1. Service and pricing
The basic mobile pre-purchase inspection costs $180 including GST. A diagnostic scan is optional and costs an additional $70 including GST. The diagnostic scan is not included in the $180 basic inspection. Any additional travel charge, specialist test or other work must be disclosed and agreed before it is carried out. A booking is confirmed only when Gill Automotive confirms the appointment date, time, location and agreed services.
2. What the basic inspection covers
The basic inspection is a visual, operational and non-invasive assessment of reasonably accessible parts of the vehicle at the agreed location. Subject to vehicle condition, safe access and available time, it may include:
- Vehicle identity, registration and odometer reading.
- Visible exterior, body, glass, lights, tyres and wheel condition.
- Accessible engine-bay items, fluid levels, visible leaks, hoses, belts, noises and smoke.
- Starting, idling, dashboard warning lights and accessible cabin controls.
- Visible and operational checks of brakes, steering and suspension.
- Transmission, clutch and driveline behaviour that can reasonably be assessed without dismantling.
- A road test where the requirements in section 6 are met.
- A written summary of the findings observed during the appointment.
3. Optional diagnostic scan
If selected, Gill Automotive will use compatible diagnostic equipment to request information from vehicle control modules that are available and communicating at the inspection time. The scan may identify current, pending or stored fault codes and available system information. A fault code is not, by itself, a final diagnosis. Some modules, manufacturer functions or historical information may be unavailable. The absence of a fault code does not prove that the vehicle has no fault.
4. What is not included
Unless separately agreed in writing, the inspection does not include dismantling, removal of fixed covers or trims, workshop-hoist inspection, compression or leak-down testing, laboratory fluid testing, wheel alignment measurement, brake-dynamometer testing, air-conditioning performance certification, invasive electrical testing, or internal examination of the engine, transmission, driveline or high-voltage battery. It also does not include a vehicle valuation, finance or security-interest check, ownership verification, stolen-vehicle check, odometer-history verification, WOF or COF inspection, engineering certification, compliance inspection or repair quotation.
5. EV and hybrid vehicles
The basic inspection does not include dismantling or invasive testing of a high-voltage system, a guaranteed battery state-of-health measurement, battery-cell capacity testing or a prediction of remaining battery life. Any dashboard information or diagnostic data available during an agreed scan is a snapshot only. Specialist EV or hybrid testing must be separately agreed where available.
6. Road-test conditions
A road test will be completed only when Gill Automotive considers it reasonably safe and the vehicle has the owner or seller’s permission, keys, sufficient fuel or charge, a current licence and WOF or COF where required, and appropriate insurance. Traffic, weather, warning lights, mechanical condition, access restrictions or safety concerns may shorten or prevent the road test. Gill Automotive may decline to drive a vehicle where doing so could be unlawful or unsafe.
7. Customer responsibilities and access
The customer must provide accurate vehicle and location information and confirm they have authority to arrange the inspection. The customer is responsible for obtaining the owner or seller’s permission for Gill Automotive to access, inspect, photograph, scan and, where permitted, road-test the vehicle. The vehicle must be available at the agreed time with keys and a safe, firm and reasonably level working area. Service records supplied by the customer or seller may be considered but are not independently verified unless specifically agreed.
8. Inspection limitations
The report records conditions that are reasonably visible or detectable during a limited mobile inspection at a particular date, time and location. Defects can be hidden, intermittent, recently cleared, masked by noise, dirt, weather, modifications or prior repairs, or require dismantling, extended driving or specialist equipment to identify. A component may fail after the inspection even if no concern was reasonably apparent at the time. The inspection is not a warranty or guarantee of condition, roadworthiness, purchase value or future reliability.
9. Findings and buying decisions
Findings are provided to help the customer make their own purchasing decision. Gill Automotive may recommend further inspection by a workshop, auto electrician, body-repair specialist, transmission specialist, manufacturer agent or other suitably qualified provider. Any likely repair cost discussed is an estimate only unless separately provided as a written quote. The decision to purchase, negotiate, obtain further testing or decline the vehicle remains with the customer.
10. Payment, cancellation and an unavailable vehicle
Payment is due as stated in the booking confirmation or invoice. The customer should notify Gill Automotive as soon as possible if the appointment must be changed or cancelled. If the vehicle is unavailable, the seller refuses access, the supplied location is unsafe, or the inspection cannot proceed for a reason outside Gill Automotive’s reasonable control, any call-out or cancellation charge will apply only where it was disclosed and agreed before the booking.
11. Photographs, records and privacy
Gill Automotive may record the vehicle registration, VIN, odometer, diagnostic results, inspection notes and photographs reasonably needed to perform the inspection, prepare the report and keep business records. Personal information is handled in accordance with our privacy notice. Vehicle photographs will not be used for unrelated marketing without separate permission.
12. Problems with the service
If the customer believes the agreed inspection service was not carried out with reasonable care and skill, they should contact Gill Automotive as soon as reasonably possible with the vehicle details and concern so it can be investigated. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986.
13. Acceptance
The customer accepts these terms by submitting the acceptance form below, confirming acceptance by email or text message, signing a supplied copy, or instructing Gill Automotive to begin after receiving a reasonable opportunity to read them. The version supplied before the booking applies to that inspection.
